Responsible Drinking Policy

Dale Liverpool Tours

Liverpool is famous for its hospitality, nightlife, pubs and music, and enjoying a drink can be part of many visitors' experience of the city.

Dale Liverpool Tours does not encourage excessive drinking. My priority is simply that everyone can enjoy their experience safely and without negatively affecting other visitors, residents, venues or members of the public.

Alcohol on Tours

Most Dale Liverpool Tours experiences are not alcohol-focused tours.

However, visitors may choose to have a drink before or after their tour, and some private or bespoke itineraries may include visits to pubs, bars, music venues or other licensed premises.

If alcohol is consumed during an experience, I ask visitors to drink responsibly and remain able to participate safely.

Walking Tours

Walking tours take place on public streets and can involve road crossings, crowds, steps, uneven surfaces and other normal features of a busy city.

For that reason, visitors should remain sufficiently alert and in control to move around safely.

If you have been drinking before a tour, please consider whether you are fit to participate.

Private, Bus and Group Tours

Private and bespoke tours can sometimes include pubs, bars or music venues at the request of the customer.

Where alcohol is available, its sale and service remain subject to the rules and licensing responsibilities of the individual venue.

If a tour involves transport, alcohol must not be consumed inside a vehicle unless the relevant operator specifically permits it.

Passengers must always follow instructions given by the driver or transport provider.

George Harrison's Childhood Home

George Harrison's childhood home at 25 Upton Green is a historic residential property within a living residential community.

Visitors should arrive in a condition that allows them to safely negotiate the property's steps and staircase and to treat the house, its contents and neighbouring residents with respect.

Excessive drinking or disruptive behaviour is not appropriate within the property.

Behaviour

I want Dale Liverpool Tours experiences to be relaxed, friendly and enjoyable.

However, aggressive, threatening, abusive, discriminatory, seriously disruptive or unsafe behaviour will not be accepted, whether alcohol is involved or not.

If I reasonably believe that somebody's level of intoxication or behaviour creates a significant risk to themselves or others, seriously disrupts the experience, or causes unacceptable disturbance to residents or venues, they may be prevented from participating or asked to leave.

Licensed venues also make their own decisions about whether to admit or serve individual customers.

Under-18s

Alcohol may only be purchased or consumed in accordance with UK law and the rules of the individual licensed premises.

Dale Liverpool Tours does not purchase or provide alcohol for anyone under the legal age.

Parents, guardians and responsible adults remain responsible for children and young people accompanying them on a tour.

Look After Yourself and Each Other

If you choose to drink while visiting Liverpool:

  • Know your own limits.

  • Drink water and take breaks.

  • Eat appropriately.

  • Keep track of your belongings.

  • Stay aware of your surroundings.

  • Do not drink and drive.

  • Look after the people you are travelling with.

  • Follow the rules of licensed venues and transport providers.

  • Treat residents, staff, other visitors and members of the public with respect.

There is never any expectation to drink alcohol as part of a Dale Liverpool Tours experience.

If Someone Becomes Unwell

If you or somebody in your group becomes unwell during a tour, please tell me immediately.

Depending upon the circumstances, we may stop the experience, find somewhere safe to sit, contact somebody accompanying the visitor or seek medical assistance.

In a serious or life-threatening emergency, the appropriate emergency service should be contacted on 999.

Enjoy Liverpool Responsibly

Liverpool should be enjoyed.

Have a pint in a historic pub, experience the city's music and nightlife or raise a glass to The Beatles if that's part of your visit — but please do so responsibly and with respect for the people around you.

The overwhelming majority of visitors do exactly that, and this policy exists simply to make expectations clear if a problem does arise.
