Staying Safe on a Dale Liverpool Tour
Your safety and enjoyment are important to me.
Dale Liverpool Tours operates experiences across Liverpool and the wider Liverpool City Region, including walking tours, private tours, bus and group tours, and tours of George Harrison's childhood home.
Different experiences naturally involve different environments and potential hazards. These can include busy roads, uneven pavements, historic buildings, stairs, changing weather conditions and entering or leaving vehicles.
This page explains what you can expect and how we can work together to keep your experience safe and enjoyable.
General Safety
During any tour, please:
Follow reasonable safety instructions from your guide, driver or venue staff.
Remain aware of traffic, cyclists, other pedestrians and your surroundings.
Wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the tour and weather conditions.
Tell me if you feel unwell or need to stop or rest.
Keep responsibility for personal belongings such as phones, cameras and bags.
Supervise children in your care.
Follow any additional safety requirements at locations or venues we visit.

Walking Tours
Liverpool is a busy working city rather than a controlled visitor environment.
Walking-tour routes can include road crossings, traffic, cyclists, crowds, uneven pavements, cobbles, kerbs, steps and occasional street works.
I will choose appropriate routes and crossing points wherever practical, but visitors should remain aware of their surroundings throughout the tour.
Please do not cross a road simply because another member of the group has crossed. If traffic lights change or the group becomes separated, wait until it is safe to cross. I will wait for you.
There is no need to rush to keep up with the group.
Suitable footwear is strongly recommended.
Weather
Liverpool's weather can change quickly.
Please check the forecast before travelling and bring suitable clothing. Depending on conditions, this could include waterproof clothing, warm layers, suitable footwear, drinking water or sun protection.
Tours will normally continue in ordinary Liverpool rain.
If weather conditions create a genuine safety concern — for example severe wind, storms, ice or other extreme conditions — I may alter the route, delay, reschedule or, where necessary, cancel an experience.
Where a significant change is required, I will contact affected customers as soon as reasonably possible.
Private Tours
Private tours can often be adapted around the individual group.
If walking conditions, weather, mobility or another safety consideration makes part of the planned itinerary unsuitable, I may suggest an alternative route or location.
Private tours involving vehicles may be operated by third-party licensed transport providers. Visitors must follow the safety requirements of the driver and vehicle operator.
Please tell me about significant mobility or access requirements in advance so that suitable arrangements can be discussed before the tour.
Bus and Group Tours
When travelling by bus, coach, taxi or another vehicle, passengers should follow the instructions of the driver and operator.
Where seat belts are fitted and their use is required, passengers should use them appropriately.
Please take particular care when boarding and leaving vehicles, especially around roads, kerbs or uneven surfaces.
Do not attempt to board or leave a vehicle until it has stopped and it is safe to do so.
For organised group tours using third-party transport, vehicle safety, licensing and operation remain the responsibility of the relevant transport provider.
George Harrison's Childhood Home
George Harrison's childhood home at 25 Upton Green, Speke is an original residential property dating from the mid-20th century. It is not a purpose-built visitor attraction.
Visitors should therefore expect the normal features of a domestic house, including steps, a staircase, door thresholds, relatively confined spaces and household furniture.
The tour begins in the back garden before entering the property.
Please take care on steps and stairs and use available handrails where appropriate. There is no need to rush when moving between floors or rooms.
Because the house contains historic, vintage and decorative objects, please follow any instructions about objects that should not be handled.
Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the interactive nature of the house, including appropriate musical instruments and objects made available for visitor use, but please treat everything within the property with care.
Children should remain appropriately supervised.

Music and Instruments
One of the distinctive features of some Dale Liverpool Tours experiences is the opportunity to engage with music.
Where musical instruments are specifically made available for visitors to use, please handle them responsibly and follow any instructions provided.
Do not handle instruments, equipment or historic objects unless they have been identified as available for visitor use.
At George Harrison's childhood home, instrument use may also be restricted in particular parts of the property to respect neighbouring residents.
Alcohol
You are welcome to enjoy Liverpool's hospitality before or after your experience, but please drink responsibly.
Anyone whose behaviour presents a safety risk to themselves, other visitors, the guide, drivers, residents or members of the public may be asked to leave an experience.
Where alcohol forms part of a particular event or itinerary, additional venue rules may apply.
Medical Emergencies
If you have a medical condition that you believe could significantly affect your participation, you are welcome to tell me beforehand where doing so would help me make the experience safer or more comfortable.
Please carry any medication you may require.
If you become unwell during a tour, tell me immediately. We can stop the tour, find somewhere appropriate to sit or seek further assistance depending upon the circumstances.
In a serious or life-threatening emergency, 999 should be called for the appropriate emergency service.
Children and Young People
Children are welcome on appropriate Dale Liverpool Tours experiences but remain the responsibility of their accompanying parent, guardian or responsible adult.
Particular care should be taken around roads, vehicles, stairs and objects within heritage properties.

Respecting Other People
Safety also includes creating an environment in which visitors, residents and members of the public are treated appropriately.
Aggressive, threatening, abusive, discriminatory or seriously disruptive behaviour will not be accepted.
Anyone whose behaviour creates a significant safety risk or seriously affects the experience of others may be asked to leave the tour.
Visitors should also respect residents and private property when visiting residential Beatles locations. Please do not enter private gardens, block driveways or cause unnecessary disturbance.
If You Become Separated From a Tour
If you lose sight of the group, do not run across roads or take unnecessary risks trying to catch up.
Remain somewhere safe and contact me using the contact details supplied with your booking.
I will arrange the safest practical way for you to rejoin the group.
Accessibility and Individual Requirements
Safety and accessibility frequently overlap.

I would rather discuss a concern beforehand and adapt something where practical than have you arrive uncertain about what to expect.
